Misty Noup

It’s a grey afternoon as I set out to cycle to Noup Head. I can’t tell you how many miles it is because Google Maps runs out of roads where the stony farm track begins. In Westray it’s not the miles that matter, though, it’s the hills and the wind.

I reach Noup Head and the lighthouse and the whole area is shrouded in mist. I meet a nice couple there who tell me they’ve been walking and had the nicest weather they’ve had all week and that it’s been brilliantly clear. I can only just see the lighthouse in the mist; and I’m standing next to it.

I’ll try again another day; another day of wind and hills.
