Today is exciting because I’m off to the big city. A city of 8,000 people. That counts as big in Orkney. I’m standing outside Einar waiting for the bus to come down the road to drive us the two miles to Rapness to get the ferry to the Mainland of Orkney. It’s a beautiful morning and the sky is clear. Time for a photograph of the front of the house – I might not get such a good chance to fool people into thinking it’s warm and sunny here again.
I think that the house looks a complete wreck, but it’s my wreck and I love it.

thats a big house! :) and a city of 8000? thats almost twice the size of the little town i grew up in , in New Jersey!
The house itself is the little building tacked on at the end of the school. The old schoolmaster’s house is three bedrooms, but it’s the school itself which is big. It’s 50′ by 20′ with 15′ high ceilings and is currently one room. It does need a lot of work to make it habitable – but at least the new roof means it’s now dry!
One day at a time my friend. That’s all any of us can do! :)
